A Baker’s Dozen with Billy Holt

Savior Billy Holt

Billy Holt as a Savior

When I asked Billy Holt what his Savior name was, he told me to just call him the mean, bearded Savior. Whew! I think you’re killing it, Dude! You can always find Billy’s character helping with Negan’s dirty work.

Billy took time out of his busy schedule, working with Josh Turner on the Fighting for Autism tour to answer our baker’s dozen of questions.

Where were you born and where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in the south, Florida and Georgia.

How did you get into acting?

I am retired from my first career and I wanted to give it a shot. I don’t have any expectations. I am just riding it out to see what happens.

Was it always your dream to become an actor?

Actually no, lol. I am really just a guy who woke up one morning and decided to try something new. The Walking Dead is a blessing.

What was your very first acting role?

I worked on a few independent films locally, usually as a thug or gangster type. lol  Go figure!

How did you get the role of a Savior?

I applied through a casting agency that handles all of the casting for the Saviors in the show.

Is it hard for a nice guy like you to play a mean Savior?

It was never hard for me to play a mean character. I have an awesome resting mean face. It takes very little effort to look the part.

Did you do anything special to prepare for the role, like having a backstory of any kind in your own mind, maybe one that would help justify why he was part of the Saviors?

I imagine my character is just surviving the best he can in his current situation. Just doing what he has to do for his own. I think he was a military man and although he is the most badass Savior he does have a conscience.

Were you a The Walking Dead fan before landing the role?

I watched the show for a while before I got the role. I have to admit it was exciting.

What has been your favorite acting role?

Are you kidding? Being a Savior is the best! I love The Walking Dead and especially the Negan story.

Who has been an inspiration to you in your life and acting career?

The inspiration in my life has been the love of family and I have to give thanks to God, the ultimate inspiration. If some good comes from my acting career, I will be happy. Like the fact that I am an ambassador in the fight for Autism. This honor came to me because of my acting career.

Were there any funny or memorable behind the scene moments you experienced?

Countless. Many of which I can’t talk about. lol The one thing that is funny, but not really, is the heat. Sometimes it’s fun being miserable with your friends.

Do you have any new acting roles in your future?

I have a few projects lined up, like a couple of independent shorts and a pilot on smartparanormal.com called Wrestling with Ghosts produced by Justin Richards.

Is there anything you can tell all us fans about yourself that we don’t know?

I am a man of faith, an avid outdoorsman, and am sort of a health and fitness nut.

For a character without a name yet, Billy has portrayed him well. War is coming though and I don’t want any of my favorite characters to go! Why can’t we play nice, people? You can see that health and fitness thing is really paying off in this picture. I think my heart forgot how to beat for a second!

I'm from a very rural area in Southwest Mississippi. I'm Mom to a 27 y/o son, a little Maltese (see profile picture), and a mini dachshund. I came late to The Walking Dead but instantly fell in love with the series and Daryl. I binge-watched the first four and a half seasons to catch up before it came back on in January, 2015. Now I'm hopelessly hooked. I watch Fear the Walking Dead and The Talking Dead, also.
