Jeremy Palko stars as Andy of the Hilltop Colony on The Walking Dead. Andy was a member of the supply group who had to make regular deliveries to Negan and the Saviors. After a disastrous delivery, with explicit instructions from Negan to bring back Gregory’s head in exchange for Craig, he watched as Ethan stabbed Gregory. Thus ensued a fight between Rick and Ethan and when Andy leaped in to help Ethan, Abraham tackled Andy and a fight began. I think we all remember the scene where Andy almost choked Abraham to death!
Andy helped Rick and his crew come up with a substitute head to pretend it was Gregory’s and also gave them as much information as he could on the Savior’s outpost.
I hope all the fans enjoy learning all about Jeremy in his answers to my baker’s dozen of questions as much as I did.
Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born in LaGrange, Georgia, but moved to Puyallup, Washington, when I was 5 years old. I went to college in Seattle, Washington, at the University of Washington.
How did you get into acting?
I got into acting in college after my second knee surgery sidelined me from sports. I went on to graduate in Film Studies with a minor in Drama. After that, I worked on the Disney Cruise Line for a while and then wound up in the Southeast.
Was it always your dream to become an actor?
I think I just wanted to be so many things growing up. Eventually I thought it would be more fun to play multiple professions. It’s great to be able to attempt more than one profession.
What was your first acting role?
Besides my 3rd grade play as “Grumpy” in “Snow White,” ironically, Sydney White with Amanda Bynes was my first movie.
How did you get the role of Andy?
I got the role of Andy by submitting an audition video from my agent. I had to do two completely made-up scenes. Like I said, they keep things pretty private on this show.
Were you a The Walking Dead fan before landing the role?
I was a big fan of The Walking Dead before being cast. I had read for so many roles on the show before I was cast.
Did you catch some flak from the Abraham fangirls for choking him?
Ha! Twitter is a powerful source in which to interact with fans, and, yes, a few Abraham fan’s were not happy with Andy.
Did you do anything special to prepare for the role?
I didn’t do anything really special in preparation for the show, because I didn’t know too much about my character until I got to set. They are very secretive and private about the show. I just tried to be as physically and mentally ready as possible.
Were there any funny or memorable behind the scene moments on The Walking Dead you experienced?
A funny behind the scenes moment?? I remember hearing “We need Andy to set” over a radio as I was waiting in my trailer. I panicked thinking I was late to set!! So I ran about 3 football fields to set. I was huffing and puffing and out of breath. I was then asked what I was doing there. I said, “You guys need Andy right?” They looked confused. Turns out they call Andrew Lincoln “Andy” on set. They laughed and told me, “We will call you Jeremy.” I then walked back to my trailer sweaty.
Do you have any new acting roles in your future?
I have a few projects coming up. All can be found on IMDB.
NOTE: Fangirls, Jeremy is going to be in Pitch Perfect 3!
What can you tell us about your work as a stuntman?
Being a stuntman hurts! I really only do my own stunts when I have to. It’s not that I don’t want to. It’s that I respect the men and women who are professional stunt people in this business more. It is their job and they are amazing at it.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
I really enjoy just relaxing, going to movies, going to the beach, playing guitar, and going for runs.
Is there anything you can tell us about yourself that we don’t know?
Things that people don’t know about me?? I’m a die hard Seattle Seahawks fan.
Oh, Wow, Fangirls! Look at those beautiful baby blues in this picture! I’m looking forward to seeing Jeremy in all his new endeavors.
Andy is a member of the Hilltop Colony residents who pledged allegiance to help fight the Saviors and we hope to see him in the war that is coming in Season 8 this October on AMC.
