Episode Preview: The Walking Dead 7×14 “The Other Side”

Welcome to another week in the apocalypse, friends! The Walking Dead world circles back around to The Hilltop in episode 14, “The Other Side,” where we will find Maggie, Enid, Sasha, Daryl and now, Rosita, preparing not only the residents but themselves, to fight. As the season begins to wind down, the action is only supposed to get more intense. I am pretty confident we won’t be left dangling off a cliff as big as last season’s finale, but no matter how the season wraps up, it’s going to cause us anxiety, and probably a few tears.

Let’s take a closer look at Sunday’s episode and speculate wildly about all the possible scenarios to look out for, thanks to the promos, sneak peeks and pictures graciously granted to us from the powers that be.

Starting with Rosita and Sasha, they think they will be able to get a closer shot on Negan and just end the entire thing with one bullet. Let’s put aside for a moment the fact that Rosita has tried this already, and failed. Got Olivia killed in the process and Eugene now pledges himself to Negan. Now, that’s not to say that Sasha is the epithet of good decision making. Her impulsive and emotional responses to the loss of Bob and Tyrese left her (understandably so) a bit unhinged. Here she is with another loss and who is to say that this calm demeanor she carries is that of a woman who is thinking clearly?

One way or another whatever plan Rosita and Sasha are currently hatching will not end well. There is a part of the comic series that could be coming up in the next three episodes, and if that’s the case, I wonder if either of these two women will fill the role. See spoiler below if you want to know what I am referencing.

SPOILER
In the comic series, the woman that Abraham leaves Rosita for, Holly, goes at Negan and ends up getting taken hostage. Negan kills her, but puts a bag over her head and returns her to Rick in hopes that she’ll attack and kill him. I think since Sasha is the one that Abraham was with at the time of his death, I have a pretty good feeling we may be seeing the last of her this season.

We knew when Daryl left The Kingdom for The Hilltop, that his problems with the Saviors wouldn’t be over. This week he’s scrambling, along with Maggie, to find a good hiding spot when the Saviors arrived unannounced at Gregory’s door. I wouldn’t be surprised for one second if this coward (brilliantly played by Xander Berkeley) gave up both Maggie and Daryl when Simon (Steven Ogg) says, “You have a certain somebody. So, what you can do for me is point me in that direction.”

Gregory gave up Maggie and Sasha the last time the Saviors were there, and it backfired on him in hilarious fashion. When Maggie slapped Gregory later in that episode, I am sure we all cheered vigorously, but Gregory looks to still be stewing in his study. Will he make a second attempt at giving up the Alexandrians who are seeking shelter in his community? He must feel the tide turning with all those people signing up to fight against the Saviors. If he were to give up the plan that was brewing, along with Maggie and Daryl, just to save his own life now would be the time to do it.

Something else to consider: I believe the Saviors are on the lookout for Daryl, but what would make them think he’s hiding at The Hilltop? I think Negan sent them there to retrieve ‘the other Doc Carson’ since The Hilltop’s doctor got a little, well, toasted. Would Gregory give up their doctor to the Saviors willingly? Yep. I do believe he would.

Nothing good can come from this plan kids…

Do you think Rosita and Sasha are right to venture out on their own to take out Negan? Or, do you think that they should stay and do their part in training The Hilltop residents to fight? Personally, I have no vested interest in either of the characters, but I never want to see someone leave the show. I think they are being very selfish to go out on their own and not wait for the rest of the communities to be ready. Both Sasha and Rosita know that Rick has the explosives. Rosita knows that he has the support of the Scavengers as long as there are more guns. Which, Rick will have thanks to Tara finally telling her secret.

Rosita and Sasha should be concentrating on preparing The Hilltop to help fight the war that is about to begin. I’m sure some of them will be lost in the oncoming battle, but they still need to be prepared to fight. Some of the pictures below seem as though that was the intention, but we know they head out on their own. One thing I did read in an advance preview from the folks over at SpoilerTV about Rosita and Sasha does pique my interest for their upcoming scenes together. SPOILER
…it’ll be very interesting to watch them together in next Sunday’s episode. Rosita will finally open up about Abraham and what she did before the zombie apocalypse and where her exceptional survival skills come from, and Sasha will also open up to Rosita about her relationship with Abraham…. ALSO… Sasha and Rosita will demonstrate how badass they can be in one scene, against some walkers.
