Fear The Walking Dead 1×04 Sneak Peek – Not Fade Away
We are soon to be four episodes into Fear The Walking Dead, and it seems like the outbreak is in full swing. I think it is still early on enough that the general public is really only becoming aware of the danger they are in, and by the look of the promo and sneak peek for FTWD 104, “Not Fade Away”, I think they will be aware that the dead aren’t the only concern.
Of course we, the viewers, know that the military is just as big a danger as the undead (or infected) are. But I think Travis, Madison and the rest will soon become aware that they are not the cavalry, and that they should’ve left when they had the chance.
Season 1 Episode 4 – Not Fade Away Promo
Madison and Travis see different sides of the National Guard’s occupation in their neighborhood; the family tries to adapt to the new world.
I can’t help but wonder if the decision to stay, and ultimately be stuck in the neighborhood with the military presence will be the beginning of the end for Travis and Madison. His reluctance to see what is really happening, his hesitation to leave town when they could, and his insistence that his son not learn to use a gun are all really questionable decisions. Yet, he does now know how wrong he is. Travis is clinging to the idea that all order will be restored.
Though, Travis’ reluctance to kill the infected is not the only issue facing them, I think its going to be reason that they lose the first member of their group. In the preview, Nick is being taken away, but I doubt it will be him. If anything, I think one of the Salazar family members will be the first to go, and somehow I see it being Travis’ fault. If for no other reason to increase the already rising tension between Daniel and himself.
FTWD 1×04 Sneak Peek
From the sneak peek above, Madison looks to get a fist hand glimpse of the devastation in her neighborhood. Instinctively hiding from the military patrol (good girl Madison!) she seems to get a sense that there is no end in sight of this plague and subsequently militaristic invasion. Seeing people shot in the head in the street kinda does that to a person I guess. The question is, what will she do about it? Will she insist that they leave or continue to follow Travis’ lead?
Are People Tuning Out?
The latest news swirling the intrawebs is another dip in ratings for Fear TWD. Is it just that football is back? Or are people tuning out because of the slower pacing of Fear? Personally, I like the pace and the story so far. It is a tad difficult getting used to a new group, but you can hardly compare them to the characters that we already hold so near and dear.
I like what FTWD has brought us so far. The characters are naive and flawed, but I imagine everyone was at the beginning of the outbreak. Rick Grimes was in a coma, and he was pretty meek and mild after waking and learning to deal with what happened. I imagine a lot of our more seasoned survivors were a lot like Fear’s core families at the beginning.
So, if anyone who is reading this is on the fence, I urge you to stick with it. Allow this story to play out. True, the action is still minimal, but the anticipation of watching how the civilized world ended is exciting. Watching these people become seasoned survivors, and not just hearing about how it happened, is intriguing.
I really think, you’ll be sorry if you stop watching. I know I would be. Only 3 more episodes of season 1, then we’ll shift and be back in D.C. Until then, scroll down a bit more for some promotional pictures for Fear The Walking Dead 1×04 “Not Fade Away”.
