Fear the Walking Dead Season 3 Premiere Date, Photos & Synopsis

Fear the Walking Dead‘s third season is on the horizon, and with that AMC has released the premiere date and a press release with some details as to what can be expected. The season will kick off with a 2-hour premiere on Sunday, June 4th at 9/8C on AMC. The first half of the season will consist of eight episodes airing over six weeks with the mid-season finale of back-to-back episodes on Sunday, July 9.

Here’s a snippet from AMC about the upcoming season of Fear TWD from the recent Press Release:

As “Fear the Walking Dead” returns for season three, our families will be brought together in the vibrant and violent region formerly known as the U.S.-Mexico border. International lines done away with following the world’s end, our characters must attempt to rebuild not only society, but family as well. Madison has reconnected with Travis, her apocalyptic partner, but Alicia has been fractured by her murder of Andres. Madison’s son is only a few miles from his mother, but Nick’s first action as a leader saw him and Luciana ambushed by an American militia group – the couple escaped death, Luciana was shot, and Nick no longer feels immortal. Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia’s captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father.

What Can We Expect from FTWD Season 3?

We may be three seasons into Fear, but this group of survivors is still in the early days of the apocalypse. I imagine that throughout this next set of episodes we’ll see them still struggling to adapt to the ways of the world while trying to heal from the losses they’ve already experienced. I think Nick will continue to emerge as a leader, but his will-power and commitment will be challenged.

The group isn’t as big as on the mothership show, but they are still fractured into three different places. We have experience in seeing groups come back together, but do you think Strand will ever find his way back to Madison and Travis? They escaped the city together, but that feeling of family and allegiance to surviving together never really clicked. Unless there are remarkable and extenuating circumstances, I can’t see this group finding their way back to each other.

To be honest, I like the idea of them NOT being together. Nick is clearly better off outside of Madison’s influence and hovering. I don’t know if he’s really got his addiction under control, and I believe he’ll be tested in that capacity in Fear’s third season. As for his sister, Alicia will face the biggest battle with herself, and how she handles the aftermath of killing Andres. This could go two ways for Alicia… She emerges a stronger, more confident self, or she goes the way of season 1 Andrea and starts to have a breakdown. How she will work through that with her mom the helicopter, I don’t know. But I think Alicia is in for a rude awakening during season 3.

I’m personally struggling to really find a purpose with Ofelia’s journey, but according to the above press release, her story will be one that will test her will and survival skills. We know that the quiet ones can be dangerous when pushed; we saw it happen with Carol. Ofelia is NO Carol, but maybe whatever battles she fights this season can help being her character’s transformation to a true “do what needs to be done” type of survivor.

What do you want to see in the upcoming season of Fear TWD? Do you think Strand will leave the hotel and go out on his own? Will Travis and Madison find Nick, or run into a new batch of trouble?

Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, June 4th at 9/8C on AMC.
