The Walking Dead Mid-Season Finale Preview: Will Someone Else Meet Lucille?
Well, it’s here. The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead has arrived, and I am just not ready for another hiatus. I feel like we just got reunited with the group, got through the terrible loss of two favorite characters, just to be separated again for a couple months. However, before we settle into the holidays and the gloom of a winter without The Walking Dead, let’s take a quick peek at the final episode of 2016.
Since losing Glenn and Abraham in the premiere, there has been a sense of anxiety and worry about who may next fall victim to Lucille. The time has come to be concerned folks, because I fear that Negan and his precious lady won’t be leaving Alexandria without shedding a little blood. The good news… if there CAN be good news here, is that I don’t believe we are looking another major loss. No offense to the actors who play these characters, but the few I am placing my money on won’t exactly be a major loss for the community.
Will One of These Three Meet Lucille?
Of the people in Alexandria who are present during Negan’s visit to return Carl, there are three in particular that could possibly be on the receiving end of a head whackin’. The reason I present these three as options, is because they have all had a significant scene as of late that could be pointed to as a poignant moment, and not without a bit of foreshadowing.
Rosita hasn’t exactly been able to keep her anger in check since losing Abraham, and she’s had more than a couple moments where she was openly hostile to the Saviors. Her secret mission to find weapons and bully Eugene to make her a bullet wouldn’t exactly go over well with the new management. I can’t help but wonder if maybe her sassy defiance won’t be the key to her demise. She’s my least-likely choice, but I don’t think you can completely rule her out.
Father Gabriel’s stock has been on the rise lately, especially has he continues to be a productive member of the community, and continues to have Rick’s back. His scene in “Sing Me A Song” when he defends Rick’s decisions to Spencer, he does so with complete faith and confidence in what he is saying. Not only does he quaintly put Spencer in his place by calling him out as a ‘tremendous shit’, but he has a memorable monologue that could be the key to why he dies. We all know that you can’t live in this world very long after having a “moment”. Personally, I would hate to see Gabriel go now, he’s finally starting to grow on me.
Hoarding guns, booze and having a poor attitude isn’t a sin… oh wait, yes it is! Seriously, Spencer has been acting very naughty as of late, and I believe he is number two on Rick’s shit list. Even though he is on board to work for Negan, something tells me that he won’t be able to keep his mouth shut around the boss man. Negan strikes me as the kind of guy who would quickly grow tired of Spencer’s crap. With Rick out scavenging, and Negan poised at the head of the dinner table, what stupid thing will Spencer do now that will end up with his brains all over Main Street? Don’t know, but my money is firmly placed on him to meet Lucille in the finale.
The Walking Dead Mid-Season Finale Promo
You can see from the promo that Negan is not only clean shaven, but also splattered with some blood. I really don’t believe that lil’ asskicker is in any danger, but someone is going to have a really bad day before Negan leaves Alexandria.
We finally are going to return to The Kingdom for the first time since episode two, and it looks like we will learn more about their deal with the Saviors. I am so happy to see from the pictures below that we will also be reunited with my favorite cookie maker, Carol. Will she get wind of what the Saviors are doing? Will Morgan ever go back to Alexandria and tell Rick what he’s learned?
Daryl is out and on the run, but the big question is – is this legit or just another trick by the Saviors? If it is legit, who passed the key? A lot of the fans I’ve asked seem to think that Jesus was able to get the note to Daryl. He was on the truck, then wasn’t. We all know he is a legit ninja, so it isn’t impossible to say that he shadowed Daryl back to his cell, and got him something to pick the lock.
Maggie is settling in at The Hilltop, but we know that she isn’t exactly feeling the welcome love from Gregory. Will he try to pull another stupid move to get her out, or was she able to assert her position and put that coward in his place? At least with Sasha and Enid there with her, she has some backup if things should get hairy.
Lots of good things coming up in this 90-minute mid-season finale, and probably lots of bad things too. But, hey, it wouldn’t be The Walking Dead if that wasn’t the case.
TWD 708: ‘Hearts Still Beating’ Sneak Peek
Can I just say, I am SO HAPPY to see more of Olivia (played by the absolutely fabulous Ann Mahoney). She is easily my favorite side character, and would love to see her more often!
