The Walking DeadThree Cast Members Promoted to Series Regulars As Season 8 Begins Filming

Hey, fam! It looks like things are starting to get underway down in Georgia as the cast and crew are set to start filming in the next week or so. Ahead of this, the folks over at The Walking Dead have bumped three familiar faces to series regulars for season 8, which means that they will be around for a while.

Love ’em, or hate ’em, looks like Enid (Katelyn Nacon), Simon (Steven Ogg) and Jadis (Pollyanna MacIntosh) will be around through season 8, and possibly beyond!

What Does This Mean for TWD

How this affects storytelling for season 8 is anyone’s guess, but I imagine Enid will continue her role as Maggie’s adopted daughter throughout the season, just as Sophia was (and still is) in the comic books.  Enid is a solid replacement for this role, though I know some may argue that fact. Since Sophia was killed off so early in the series, it makes sense for the writers to give Maggie another younger female to help her not only with baby Rhee on the way but with managing The Hilltop.

Plus, Carl needs someone to try and keep him out of trouble, and so far it looks like Enid may be it. Though, if the show continues to follow the trajectory of the books, Carl may soon find himself involved in a little love triangle.

As for Simon, I imagine he will continue to terrorize Gregory (at least one can hope) and do more of Negan’s bidding. After the war began in the season 7 finale, Simon’s role can easily be expanded as it continues to rage on through The Walking Dead season 8. Personally, I am a big fan of Steven Ogg’s, and of Simon’s. I get he’s on #TeamNegan, but I can’t help but enjoy his brand of sarcasm and surliness.

Jadis… Oh, Jadis. Sorry, but this is the only bit of news I was a bit disappointed to hear. Pollyanna MacIntosh seems like a lovely woman, and I don’t deny her work, but her character and the rest of the Scavengers just need to die. Quickly. Their double cross of Rick and Alexandria aside, she made moves on Michonne’s man and that just can’t stand. If anyone needed to be tossed over the side of the balcony, its Jadis.

Season 8 will premiere sometime in October. Until then follow us on Twitter or Facebook to keep up with the latest news of The Dead!

  1. Really pleased about Simon – he’s an AWESOME baddie! In a way, better than Negan, because he’s more low key. Enid I can take or leave, but I get that viewers will love her. Jadis???? Mistake! I don’t think she’s so bad per se, but I haven’t talked to one person who doesn’t think the whole junkyard gang thing was totally stupid. I wonder if the producers will change their minds if public opinion falls against her – that’s how it works in soap operas, so let’s hope!
